November 6 a still day

It is interesting to me that the woodpeckers come to the suet hangers near my living room window as I work at the computer. It has a calming effect upon me. Then there is the last sunflower whose petals were curled up and that wasn't going to be able to open before the north wind blew and brought the frost and freeze with her.

I brought the sunflower in and now she is opening the last of her beautiful petals before she says her fond goodbye. She came to show us her beauty first. I kissed her.

Day Eight – You did it! You got us over the hump with 100 VOTES

Happy Tonics wishes to thank VOTERS for getting us to a milestone at Planet Earth Climate Change Native Habitat and Community Garden Shell Lake grant proposal. 100 VOTES qualifies us to be eligible for another round at a future date. New Orleans' worthy grant is in top right now. That was a great game yesterday. Thank you Saints for quite a show. You deserve every minute of your success and the blessings you are sharing with New Orleans right now.

Good News! Happy Tonics was given permission today to implement a raised bed garden at Friendship Commons, the senior center. Washburn County Public Land and Land Sales unanimously approved the project. Happy Tonics received a grant from Leopold Education Project and Pheasants Forever to fund the project. Sustainability starts from the bottom up with one garden at a time. The Girl Scouts of Shell Lake will implement the project.

With your help, we can continue our Morph Your Mind Environmental Education Programs throughout the region. The nonprofit is growing but the budget is always the same, struggling as a nonprofit grassroots organization. This grant from Brighter Planet would be a big help to us.
Hope to see your VOTES soon. Be happy Voters where ever you are.

Climate Change Native Habitat and Community Garden · Brighter Planet

Our little city is a sustainable city, population 1,360. We have the cleanest lake throughout Northwest Wisconsin. The town is diligent on keeping Shell Lake free of invasive species.

Our Native Wildflower and Butterfly Garden is located near the lake. Here is a photo of a community raised bed garden we started at Lakeland Manor senior housing in 2007. Sister Richelle and I are wild for pesto and grow lots of basil in the raised bed community garden.
We know that Washburn County, Wisconsin, is bracing for 8,000 people coming off the unemployment benefits roll. The food pantries are gearing up. Shell Lake is a sustainable city. We have a Farmers Market and need a lot more community gardens. The funding would help us tremendously. A city that can feed itself is sustainable. Please vote.
